The poet Lu Yu, native of Hunan province, in the Tang Dynasty wrote Cha Jing [The Book of Tea] also called The Classic of Tea. I have the Chinese version downloaded from the Gutenberg website but I don't have the English version. I know the way the book is divided into chapters.

====
The chapter headings are:
1. Origin, Characteristics. Names, and Qualities of Tea.
2. Tools for Plucking and Processing Tea.
3. Varieties, Plucking and processing Methods.

The work was begun in 760 and published in 780.

Lu is also known as the patron saint of tea.

Is there some way I can find the English version of the book?

you might try here Sep 7, 2003

they seem to be expert in rare books; the only other reference I have found is an edition of 1974 by The Ecco Press - no other indication, but it seems also that it was an extremely bad translation...

I don't have this one, so not really sure if an English translation of Lu Yu's orginal text is included. According to the description, this book is organised the same way as Cha Jing is. And Wu Juenong, the author, is recognised as the Sage of Tea in modern China, (Lu Yu is the sage of Tea, emm in ancient China.) so if you are looking for something about tea, this book is definitely worth a reading.

Just for your reference~

available on book depository, also amazon, and etc.
