The "Import linebreaks as inline tags" setting does not work; what the webpage posted above says is a flat-out lie. The only workaround I've found is to create a new segmentation rule set for Excel files, and put a torch to all the separators in the Advanced View.

You can import Excel files as multilingual delimited text files: Import with Options - choose file type "Multilingual delimited text file" - choose file. In the "document import options" window, make sure that "Filter" says "Multilingual delimited text filter" (in older MemoQ versions, this defaults to a Microsoft Excel filter if you chose an XLS(x) file). Now, "change filter and configuration" and set the column with the source texts and another column for the target texts....
