Finnish term or phrase: heräte (in a medical database)
Does anyone have a suggestion for translating "heräte" in the following contexts?

(This is from the description of a new patient information system that a hospital will use.)

1) "Tarpeen arvioinnissa hyödynnetään potilastietojärjestelmässä olevia herätteitä"

= "The [???] in the patient information system are utilized in the evaluation of need."

2) "Potilastietojärjestelmä [...] reagoi potilaalla ilmeneviin uusiin palvelutarpeisiin herätteillä."

= "The patient information system [...] reacts to new service needs arising in the patient via [???]"

My dictionaries translate "heräte" as "stimulus" or "incentive", but neither sounds right to me in the sentences above.

Thanks
