French term or phrase: audience de renvoi
In a Court of Appeal order made in late September, the Court refers to the fact that at the *audience de renvoi* held about two weeks earlier, the parties 'réitéré leurs demandes et arguments'. This is the only context given and the only time the term comes up in the text. I presume that this is the 'final hearing' but can't seem to find any clues as to how I might express it in English. I've checked Bridge, Termium, GDT, Cornu and of course Google ... Oh and I should add that the case is a civil case, not a criminal one ...
Thanks in advance if you're able to help me with this!

Your overall context should tell you which word you require.

Bridge is like that, very few cross-references or repeated material: in a two-word term, you often need to look up both terms.
Otherwise his is a very fine book.

civ. appeal review: referral-back hearing

Explanation:
- as opposed to renvoi de l'audience as a hearing adjournment.

The Appeal Court may have referred back the case to the original court: '.. la Cour d'appel, dans certaines hypothèses, renvoie l'affaire devant la juridiction qu'elle estime compétente': lexique de termes juridiques, Dalloz.

The French term of renvoi - 'referral-back' to a court, often in a different country cf. Smu's discussion entry - is used in PIL/ private international law a.k.a. conflict of laws and is used mainly in probate and legitimation actions, so we also need to know the nature of the process.

Example sentence(s):
  • renvoi: its application has generally been limited to the validity of wills and intestate succession (the validity of transfers of real property); and retrospective legitimation by the marriage of the natural parents (validity of divorce decrees)
  • Proceedings before the Civil Service Tribunal after the referral back and the order under appeal

neutral  Eliza Hall: Given that it's an "audience" and it happened in the past, it's most likely an "adjourned hearing" (one that, even further in the past, had been adjourned to the date 2 weeks ago).
