My understanding: Furthermore, the search engine's internal system collects the user's previous use of service, personal history to categorize it with similar ranges of interest, and then reflects these categorized preferences in a similar order of search results.

My Issue: 類型化しておいて. Should we translate this as "categorize" or "classify"?

Although categorizing is rather similar to classifying, in this case I believe you should use classify. I have checked several dictionaries and done some research, I found that in programming the program can classify or typify the data before storing it (typification).
Typification is essentially "classifying in patterns" according to an online dictionary. The word is not yet common, so do not be alarmed if spell check will not accept it.

  -> They are so close to being the exact same word that it would not make sense to only explain one or the other, as these words are used to define each other? How could I describe one without the other? Even if one is in title, the other has to be in comment

It means for technology text and categorize the users have similar interests zone and then from the searched result interest group it by interests (classify should be used here). I means that there have no the right words for each one as category and classify as we know.
