Portuguese term or phrase: giroespera
I have no relevant text for this term.
However, it is regarding a ships compass or gyrocompass.
They talk about `revisão e revenda de giroesferas'
Maybe they mean the GYROSCOPE or just the gyro itself - which is a major component of the GYROSCOPIC COMPASS.

giroesfera
gyrosphere

Explanation:
giroesfera => gyrosphere

Buoyancy Method

Inside the gyrosphere container, the gyrosphere floats in a supporting fluid with a buoyancy that is a little greater than its weight, a bearing cup at the bottom of the recess is pressed against the centering pin and keeps the sphere exactly centered in the container.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Many thanks all the input, I dont think they really mean the gyrosphere (the device that makes the sensitive part damped in azimuth and always north seeking), I think they really mean the gyroscopic compass itself, as it most unlikely any approved supplier would just hold these gyrospheres in stock, I think they referring to the complete thing i.e. the gyroscopic compass itself.

Asker: Thks v much your follow up! As an ex master mariner I can speak with a bit of experience, (Ive even done the Sperry`s maitenance course), I know the company involved who is writing this stuff and they are suppliers to the maritime industry, and these are very big conjuntos for v large vessels, and it didnt used to be normal to keep in stock just the gyrospere alone (many makes were sealed units anyway). However, that was several years ago and micro electronics having moved on you may very well be right.
