Schweden und das Schwerpunktthema „Politik und Zeitgeschehen“ haben den heute (11. Dezember) zu Ende gegangenen XXXX viele Besucher beschert; der erstmals in der 61-jährigen Geschichte erhobene Eintritt zur Zukunftssicherung der XXXX und das milde Wetter haben aber dennoch für einen Besucherrückgang gesorgt: Zu den XXXX 2011 kamen rund 92.000 Menschen, im vergangenen Jahr waren es 115.000. Dies teilten die Veranstalter, der XXXX, mit.
„Ich bin froh darüber, dass das erstmalige Erheben eines Eintrittspreises die meisten Besucher nicht da von abhalten konnte, zu den XXXX zu kommen. Die erzielten Einnahmen sichern den Fortbestand der beliebten Veranstaltung rund um das Buch auf Dauer“, sagte XXXX, XXXX. Source text - German Das Schloss in XXXX
Oberhalb der Stadt XXXX auf dem Schlossberg liegt das Schloss XXXX.
Seine Vorläufer sollen keltische Ringwalle gewesen sein, denen eine weit größere Burganlage auf dem nördlichen Rücken des Schlossberges folgte. Wann sie errichtet wurde, ist unbekannt. Die Reste dieser früheren Anlage sind durch Ausgrabungsarbeiten im letzten Jahrhundert dokumentiert, die wir heute nicht besichtigen können.
Das Gebiet um XXXX war jedenfalls seit der Zeit Karls des Großen ein Teil des Oberlahngaues, zu dem die Grafschaft der Gisonen gehörte. Durch Vermählung der Tochter des letzten Grafen Giso mit einem Thüringer Landgrafen kam das Land um XXXX um 1122 unter die Herrschaft der Landgrafen von Thüringen, die mit dem Bau einer Burg ihre Macht festigten.
Urkundlich erwähnt ist XXXX erstmals im Jahre 1196 in einer Kölner Urkunde mit dem Namen eines Zeugen Hartmutus de XXXX.
Erwähnt wurde XXXX dann wieder in einer Urkunde aus dem Jahre 1232 über Wunder, die sich am Grabe der heiligen Elisabeth, der im Jahre 1231 verstorbenen Witwe des Landgrafen Ludwig IV. von Hessen und Thüringen ereignet hatten. Eine Frau aus XXXX hatte an Ihrem Grabe um Fürsprache gebeten und war von einem langen Leiden geheilt worden.
Die Burg muss damals schon bestanden haben, wurde doch die Stadt nach der Überlieferung erst nach der Errichtung der Burg am Südhang des Schlossberges errichtet.
Nachdem im Jahre 1248 das Land um XXXX bei der Trennung Hessens von Thüringen dem Hessischen Landgrafen wieder zugefallen war, wurde XXXX im Jahre 1254 „oppidum“, also als Stadt, der Stadtrechte verliehen waren, bezeichnet.

The date on which these grounds were established is still something of a mystery. The remains were documented in excavations during the last century, but are no longer accessible.
The area around XXXX belonged in any case to the Upper Lahngau region since the time of Charles the Great, an expanse of land also encompassing the County of the Gisonen. Through the espousal of the daughter of the last Count Giso to a Thuringian Landgrave in approximately 1122, the land around XXXX fell under the governance of the Landgraves of Thuringia, who secured their powerful position by establishing a castle there.
XXXX is first mentioned in a document in 1196, in a deed from Cologne naming a witness called Hartmutus de XXXX.

The castle must have already been standing by that time, since folklore states that the town was founded on the southern slope of the castle hill only after construction of the castle.
When Hesse was separated from Thuringia in 1248, the land around XXXX once again fell to the Landgrave of Hesse. In 1254 XXXX was declared an “oppidum”, a town bestowed with municipal privileges.
