German term
widerspruchslos
German to English
Law/Patents
Law: Contract(s)
"Die Markeninhaberin haftet für den widerspruchslosen Bestand der Marke nicht, sofern diese nicht bereits ohne die Möglichkeit weiteren Widerspruchs eingetragen ist."
This is from an agreement regarding a brand which I am proof-reading. Could anyone explain to me what is meant by "widerspruchslos" and "die Möglichkeit weiteren Widerspruchs" here?
Many thanks
Ian

Third parties may file *oppositions* to trademarks/servicemarks that have been granted.
*unopposed* and *opposition* are the terms of the art in patent/trademark lingo

Sorry, I didn\'t complete my explanation. Such challenges aim to either prevent the granting of a patent/trademark etc. or to undo or restrict it.
Here are the URLs of some important patent offices:

Marke=trademark (_not_ brand or the like)
ergo:
*The owner of the trademark does not warrant that it is/will remain unopposed unless it has been registered in a manner precluding further opposition.*
