I can't find anything in the English-speaking countries that is used for both wallpaper and carpets. If it were just for carpets, I'd go with smoothing ruler/cutter. I seldom translate the German "Profil" as profile. In carpentry, it's moulding. Here it's a straight edge or ruler.
