A little readaptation...

And further on, watch out: "...and of mothers of the impoverished" is not the equivalent of "...[e madri come Estrella, ultima nella vita] e madre di ultimi...". Estrella is the mother of (her) impoverished (=sitting at the bottom step of social scale) children. She is the touchstone for all mothers of..., but that I wouldn't translate as "and of mothers of the impoverished". Beside that, finding the right way to render the poetic spirit and emphasis of Italian is your job, specially if this shall be a voiceover. Should it be just a descript, then it's less important.
