Spanish term

alta divulgación

Spanish to English Social Sciences Journalism
Country: Spain
Context: Document about history magazines. The sentence talks about the particular level of the information/target audience

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

educated readership

Or perhaps "university-educated readership", but to be hones I think "university" is redundant in your context.

So you would have "general", "educated" and "specialised/specialist" readership
Note from asker:
Thank you all for your help, and for responding so swiftly. Educated readership is perfect. Am relieved you have confirmed that there is no set phrase that I have overlooked, especially seeing as I have a background in publishing!

agree Bubo Coroman (X) : yes, and just to add that the type of magazines read by the "specialists" would be journals
