lol, I was wondering. Thanks for your correction.

lol just noticed that there's an extra "highly" in my reply somehow...
highly specialized division of labor
Gloria (Shufen) Huang (X) (asker) Jan 4, 2010:
Thank you. That does sound better than mine.
hhyin09 Jan 4, 2010:
i think something like "highly specialized highly division of labor" is better.
Gloria (Shufen) Huang (X) (asker) Jan 4, 2010:
May I say, "sophisticated work division"?

(highly) structured division of labo(u)r

I think the best translation would be "In the structured division of labor of most large companies..." or "In the highly structured division of labor of most large companies...".

Obviously "labor" would be spelled "labour" for British English.

See the web references below for further examples of usage of this term.
Example sentence:

"Small size itself makes it necessary and possible to run an organisation without a structured division of labour and management hierarchy..." (<i>Urban informal sector in a developing economy</i>‎ - Page 14, T. S. Papola)

"Their operations are underpinned by a structured division of labour: the production process is broken down into more and less skilled parts; or into stages ..." (<i>A sociology of Ireland</i> - Page 47, Hilary Tovey, Perry Share)
