Danish term
forny subsidiært udskifte
Danish to English
Bus/Financial
Real Estate
Leases
Part of a lease contract for a commercial tenancy.
Not quite sure how to translate this. Is it just a long-winded way of saying 'renew/replace'?
Lejer er herunder forpligtet til at ren- og vedligeholde og/eller forny subsidiært udskifte maling, tapet, gulvbelægning, alle indvendige bygningsoverflade ..... and so on.
Thanks for any help.

clean thoroughly, or else replace
"Forny", as I am sure you know, means "renew" or "renovate", but in this case I think "clean thouroughly" is better.

Thanks valhalla55. |
Thanks everyone for your input. In the end I translated it as '... clean throroughly, renew and/or replace'. I think that covers all the bases. |

: Be careful, this is contract: 'Forny' does mean put in something new, whereas 'udskifte' means put in something which is in working order, but not necessarily new. 'Subsidiært' means alternatively or and/or. So I suggest 'renew alternatively replace'

Discussion
'Forny' could be interpreted as repairing damage, e.g. giving floors a treatment to even out between wear marks and patches that have been under carpets or furniture.
Maintenance or thorough cleaning, in short.
