They suffer from low self-esteem, are easily bought, and enjoy bringing pain to others. They are people who have failed in life, and want to see others fail like them. They are mudrakers and stink from the mud that they rake.

Comment to denyce: There is nuance, at least in my mind, between self-esteem and pride. Pride is more extroverted -- something that is felt inwardly, but also shown outwardly. Self-esteem is something that is more hidden. Although one is likely to sense it from the outside, the individual does not go out of his way to display it. There is a certain amount of deceptive outward humility involved.
