Having real problems finding something suitable for lebendig in both cases here. Grateful for any help...

"Lebendiger Frieden" evokes associations to bible terminology (lebendiges Wasser, lebendiger Geist, lebendiger Gott), and the English bible uses "living" in these cases.
Not sure about the second instance; I think the translation of "lebendig" in "unendliche lebendige innere Weite" would strongly depend on what kind of words and word order you will choose for the entire phrase.

Thanks Lesley! May I ask how did you translate those phrases in the end?

: I think the translation needs to keep a reference to life/living in order to maintain the contrast with "sterben".

: Yes, Anne, I also think 'living' must be one of the two terms, but which one depends on how Lesley translates the other. Stay warm!

Hi Lesley! It's clear, the author would like to juxtapose the concept of death with the concept of living consciousness. I suppose you could interchange any of these suggestions...

Discussion
Exactly!!! Have a lovely day! : )
And I feel it's an interpretation to see the comparison being made!!! A comparison, which I fail to see. : ))))
