In my modest experience, doors don't generally have pointy bits. What would have been a 'door spike' sounds like someone used a contrived word in the first place. A flat zero hits on Google would seem to corroborate this view.

Discussion
I'm fairly sure it is NOT the right answer, but I visualised the catch of the lock at a three-year-old's eye level - a child I was with at the weekend ran into one, and it luckily the point 'only' bruised him beside his eye.
