Quiro ver como contrastar estos términos en el contexto siguiente:

"Todos estos puntos tienen que ser trabajados con “cariño”, entendiendo como tal el hecho de que no vamos a fabricar un software al por-mayor, sino una herramienta a la medida.

Estoy en el siguiente punto:

"We need to work on these points with “loving care”, meaning by that that we are not planning to make a ready-made software but a tool made to measure"

'Taylor made' is a trademark for golf stuff so I hope you went for tailor (or the other posted suggestion!)

we are not going to manufacture software for the mass-market, but a tailor-made (or:personalised) tool...

In fact, if you want to continue the metaphor, you could say "off the peg" / "tailor-made", but maybe that's going a bit far.
