Discussion

Sara Ruiz Oct 24, 2013:
El asunto es que es una jardinera, lo habitual es quitar las plantas (si las hay), remover la tierra, echar semillas nuevas y fertilizarla.
Muriel Vasconcellos Oct 24, 2013:
P.S. Even in English, farmers usually speak of *planting*, they don't use 'seeding', regardless of the crop.
Muriel Vasconcellos Oct 24, 2013:
What is crop? It all depends on the crop in the asker's text. Farmers often set out sprouts in the furrows rather than seeds. You don't "seed" potatoes or coffee, for example.
Muriel Vasconcellos Oct 24, 2013:
@Sara I understand that that's the correct term, but it's not used in the business in Latin America at least. I think it may have evolved because of the awkwardness of "plantando plantas" - which we have in English as well.
Sara Ruiz Oct 24, 2013:
Replanted es replantado, eso sería cuando tienes una planta en un sitio y la pones en otro, al menos en España.
O cuando en un sitio que en el pasado había plantas, se vuelven a plantar.
Muriel Vasconcellos Oct 24, 2013:
What crop are we talking about? The Latino gardeners I work with all use *sembrar* to refer to any kind of planting, from a seed to a tree.

Selected

plowed, replanted, and fertilized

This would be more generic and cover any kind of crop, not just those grown from seed.
