In my reading of your text this last part asks whether the accused "ignored that the practice (ablation) was unlawful" (déficit cognitivo, de conocimiento de la antijuricidad) or simply "failed to acknowledge/recognize or internalize/assume/adopt/embrace the values (or) value system embodied in the law (falta de reconocimiento o asunción interna del contenido valorativo de la norma).

This is not a very easy translation and I get the feeling you are struggling a bit generally....

I believe that to get the point across in English all you need to do is make sure to focus on the contrasting points in Spanish: conocimiento vs. reconocimiento, i.e., knowledge vs. acknowledgement. Also, since the SL text gives two terms for the same thought (“reconocimiento o asunción interna”), and to highlight the previous contrasting terms, you can leave out “asunción interna” as a needless variant.
