Good morning,

I need your help foe a "silly" thing!

I'm using TagEditor, my question is how can I activate the spellcheck in my TagEdior document at the end of my translation?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Antonia

Plug-ins, Options Oct 24, 2007

First go to Tools, Plug-ins and make sure "Spelling Checkers" and "Word Spelling Checker" are active. If no, select those options and click OK.
Then go to Tools - Options and select the register "Spelling". There chose either "Check spelling when closing segment" (which will cause spell checking as you go with the translation) or "Check spelling before saving document as target" to check spelling before you save the document as target, what obviously is exactly what you need.

I find that spellchecking is extremely slow in TagEditor, so you have a choice:
If it's a relatively short document, leave the "Check spelling before saving document as target" option selected.

If it's a long document, try selecting the "Check spelling when closing segment" option. It takes an extra second or two each segment, but saves you the frustratingly long time for spellcheking at the end.

Or maybe it's just a Hebrew problem?...

Word should be open Oct 24, 2007

Hello Antonia,

I don't know if this is a typical feature of Trados 2007, but in my system, I also have to open Word before I run the Word Spelling Checker in TagEditor. If Word is not open, it just doesn't work...

This seems silly, but I lost quite a lot of time trying to make it work before I realized that, so I thought this could be a useful information to share

No Word Oct 24, 2007

Hi Géraldine,

I run SDL Trados 2007 and it's not necessary to open Word for the Spelling Checker.

Doron is right, it's a bit slow, because when I close the segment I'm obliged to wait 1/2 sec, but in this way I solved my problem! The project is very long, but in this way at the end I do not have to revise it for spelling mistakes that occur quite often typing quickly!

Thanks to all of you!

Antonia

TE starts a hidden instance of Word, when Word Spell Checker is chosen Oct 24, 2007

When you activate Word spell checker in TE, when TE is started it starts a hidden instance of Word, which is then used for spell checking. So if you - when TE is running - open Word and then close it, it may happen, that spell checking in TE will not work anymore. You will then need to close TE, check if a Word process is still running in the background (Task Manager - CTRL+ALT+DEL) and kill this process, if it exists. Then restart TE - spell checking should work again.

I did not encounter the problem, that Word must be opened before TE is started.
This is something new to me.

But I can confirm, that the process is a bit slow.
