A translator passionate about the audiovisual world and subtitling.

All my life an avid reader and language enthusiast, I let my love of narrative guide me into a visual communication path, which I enjoyed and reveled in for some years, working as a photographer and studying cinema. Later, with all the sudden free time in our hands during the pandemic, I decided to not stay still and to keep studying; this time, the love for words and foreign languages resurfaced stronger than ever, leading me into a postgraduate in translation.

I like to think of myself as a polymath, and that's one of the things that drew me more and more to translation, as constant learning seems to be one of the pillars of the profession. That, and the kindness I found in colleagues, made me fall in love with it, revealing Translation as a career I can see myself invested in for many, many years to come.

Besides being passionate about subtitling, my background as a cinema student and the theoretical and practical knowledge I’ve acquired regarding how audiovisual projects are made, step-by-step, allows me to have a deep understanding of the audiovisual field, of the importance of having quality subtitles and how they can add to the audiovisual experience.

➡ Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Communication (Escola Superior de Comunicação de Lisboa) and postgraduate degree in Translation for the Media (Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa);

➡ I have practical work experience in the following areas: hospitality, event production, audiovisual production, photography, digital marketing; this allows me to have a deeper understanding of material related to these same fields;

➡ Familiar with the following CAT Tools: SDL Trados 2021, memoQ and Phrase (Frm. Memsource).
And with the subtitling tools Subtitle Edit, Spot, Amara, Ooona and Aegisub;
