I am Kamil Ayhan Edin. I'm writing to you about your current job posting at ProZ (Medical Devices Translation).
I have been translating since 1995 in English, German and Spanish. I am Turkish and my native language is Turkish as well.
I served in the Turkish Navy for almost 25 years after graduating from Turkish Naval Academy in 1990 with a degree from Electronics & Control System. In the meantime, I lived and worked in the US. I worked on common projects executed by the Turkish and US Navy. After completion of my career in the Navy, I started working as Captain in the shipping industry in 2007 and continued to do so until 2023. Based on my professional background, I do have vast experience about naval systems, finance & shipping business and legal and cultural & literary texts.
I have MBA and Marine Politics Master degrees in Bilgi and İstanbul universities respectively.
I enjoy reading about history, literature, geography, arts and culture, gastronomy etc.
I have been translating in a variety of subjects ranging from finance, literature, medical, etc. to technical texts as well using a variety of CAT tools such as SDL Trados on a frequent basis. I also translated novels from English to Turkish published by Harlequin.
