I lack the quick tongue needed to be an interpreter. I love working with the written word. Immediacy is not my specialty! Although, like Ana, I do interpret the texts I translate… | |

I use all the methods mentioned, as applicable, but I would not say I "specialize" in any of them. I prefer the one that was not listed: sight translation, or a variation thereof. For example, in an IEP meeting, sometimes they read parts from the draft IEP and all I have to do it sight translate it. Or they use it as a basis for what they say, which still reduces what I have to remember during consecutive interpreting. That is the easiest method for me. When I am in simultaneous mo... .... my problem was/is my voice. They couldn't make head or tails of what I said, simply because they didn't understand me. That is also why I never became a world famous singer.
