Spanish term

acercamiento

Spanish to English Science Geology Thermotectonics Western Pyrenees
This means the coming together of the plates, I believe. Have not been able to find the technical term. Here's some context:

It's probably so simple, but I am not sure how to put this in English. Thanks for your help in advance. UK English. Cheers. :)

S Ben Price Nov 2, 2008:
Is this the convergence of the Iberian and Eurasian plates, or is the Ibero-Eurasian plate drifting closer to something else, and if so, do you know what?

Oceanic-oceanic plate convergence also results in the formation of undersea volcanoes. Over millions of years, however, the erupted lava and volcanic debris ...
