Spanish term

a la entalladura

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Metallurgy / Casting Steel Structures
Hi. I'm having problems with a part of a paragraph. I hope you can help me out.

I understand the whole paragraph and have translated it accordingly, but I can't seem to understand why "a la entalladura" is needed. Entalladura being groove. could you please hel me with the meaning of that bit and maybe translate it. Much appreciated.

"Tenacidad" (>"toughness"):

"Tenacidad" refers to the impact resistance BEFORE breaking point. " Resiliencia" is the same, but to fracture.

The Charpy test (one of the test methods for impact resistance:) is also carried out in normal and notched specimens. Of course, the latter is a tougher test, and results invariably in a lower measured value. The idea for the latter is to test the impact resistance for the specimen against crack propagation, and the "notch" is the supposed "crack".

Summing up: "entalladura", here refers to a standardized notch carved into the specimen to be tested. The concept is to test the resistance of the specimen to crack propagation under impact, and this is why a "crack" is milled in the specimen.

Summing up: I would translate this part as:

"...con baja tenacidad en ensayo con entalla..."

For "entalla" vs. "notch" see:

"...may result in a welded metal with a poor notch-test toughness value..."

I believe you, trust me. Have seen worse originals myself.
Note from asker:
so the translaltion would be "...may result in a low tenacity welded metal to notches/grooves" Itis just the whole sentene seems strange in Spanish.
Thanks a lot for your help, but I have to translate to English. I suppose you thought it was to Spanish as the source text is pretty confusing. Why are you referring it to a test (en ensayo con entalla)? My understanding from the Spanish text "...may result in a low tenacity welded metal ??????", where the question marks are what I don't know what to express.
By the way I may realize some of the confusion, the text I have included is the source text (believe it or not). Sorry my wrong. :)
