instantaneous heart rate

This is the correct English idiom.
It refers to the heart rate calculated on a beat to beat basis.
That is, rather than count the number of beats in 1 minute, the time interval between two adjacent beats is measured and the result divided into 60 seconds to derive the "instantaneous" heart rate in beats per minute.
