Dear translators,

I hit a snag when translating this American expression because I am not quite sure about the exact meaning of it...

The sentence is:

"Mom is bringing her son on down over for dinner while her husband is away."

The phrase is taken from an episode of the American TV series (state is Arkansas), it is about a daughter-in-law who invited her mother-in-law (referred as 'mom') for a dinner while the rest of the family went away on holiday. And the daughter-in-law decided to make some dinner for her and the kids, just as a gesture. I got this phrase from the script so, obviously, the spelling of 'down over' might be wrong.

Anyway, I am stuck with this 'down over'... So far, my suggestion is that it can be some sort of 'посидеть с ребёнком'. The idea is that the mother could hand over her kids and cooking responsibilty to her daughter-in-law. Или что-нибудь вроде обмена?

Would be very grateful for any hint.
