The first round sees some surprising results, as the judges grapple with the stunningly diverse array of styles on show. Picasso crushes the challenge of a cave painting, but Van Gogh is given no quarter by an American miserablist couple. We'd much rather see a painting of animals climbing on top of each other for no apparent reason than entertain Sisley's lacklustre effort. It's like watching paint dry.
