Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Roofs
From building specifications from Spain for translation to British English. In part on construction of office roofing. No other mentions anywhere of either "limas" or "maestras"

Tabique palomero / (conejero). Es una sujeción usual de tejados, se hace usualmente con ladrillos huecos dobles. No conozco ningún otro elemente de construcción de cubiertas que use ladrillos huecos. Para mí (ESP), 'maestra' no es nada que se haga con ladrillos huecos.

Page 6 of 8 (figures 20, 21 and 22) of the link below shows the maestras. They appear to be a thin layer of mortar or plaster that is on top of the triangular brick built support (stringer?) for the roof.
