e sono importanti sia per scatenare determinati cambiamenti nei circuiti, sia per fare scattare interruttori

ah una cosa che non ho detto (visto che non faceva parte del testo che era richiesto tradurre): 'excessive' si riferisce al fatto che spesso gli impulsi successivi, per scatenare le risposte a cui sono deputati, hanno un'ampiezza/intensità superiore al quella del primo impulso.
Tuttavia, come nel caso dell'errore 124, questa intensità può divenire eccessiva rispettoa quanto richiesto per il funzionamento del circuito.
