Come rendere in italiano la differenza tra national e citizen??
Sul retro di un attestato di nascita di cittadino USA nato all'estero trovo scritto:
The following shall be nationals and citizens of the USA at birth:
...
a person, born outside of the USA of parents one of whom is a citizen of the USA who has been physically present in the USA for a continuous period of one year prior to the birth of such person, ***and the other of whom is a national, but not a citizen of the USA.***

Secondo me per 'national' si intende 'nazionalità', poi ogni paese ha le sue regole. Infatti per quel che riguarda l'USA si trova che tutti i cittadini americani hanno la nazionalità americana, ma non è vero sempre il contrario. I cittadini di possedimenti extraterritoriali, tipo la Samoa, hanno la nazionalità americana ma non la cittadinanza. Oppure figli di cittadini americani nati all'estero. Quindi secondo me il termine 'nazionalità' va bene.
