and that the test will be reported according to the ***alpha exhaustive method*** described below.
The study will have 96% power to
conclude superiority in capsulotomy diameter and capsulotomy circularity,
assuming the same proportions. The study will have greater than 99%
power to conclude superiority in optic overlap, assuming proportions of
90% and 70% for the XXXCapsulotomy device and the manual procedure,
respectively. Power for the secondary endpoints of capsulotomy diameter
and optic overlap were calculated using the starting one-sided alpha of
0.01125 and power for the secondary endpoint of capsulotomy circularity
were calculated using the starting alpha of 0.0025. Power will increase if
other secondary hypotheses are rejected because the ***alpha exhaustive
strategy*** will allow testing with a larger nominal type I error rate.
