English term
assurance calculations
FVA
English
Bus/Financial
Business/Commerce (general)
Sentence:
"in 2021, we performed human rights assessments for our manufacturers. Our company wants to report assurance calculations for 2022."
Can someone help me understand the meaning of "assurance calculations"? Online I found some results related to healthcare but this text is for a tech company.
I have to translate this into Italian, so an explanation would be helpful to then find a suitable way to convey this idea.

Data that shows how well the company is performing regarding labor-related human rights
The company shows its goals and its progress in different areas such as culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to advance human rights, social justice, and racial and gender equality.
One of their new goals is to "Assure respect for labor-related human rights for
100% of our key contracted manufacturing suppliers and higher risk next-tier suppliers by 2030"
They haven't made any progress to report yet as this is a new goal they have just set but they state that, "In 2021, we continued to conduct human rights assessments of our key contracted manufacturers. We intend to report assurance calculations for 2022"
Further down they state that
"Labor-related human rights are defined as modern slavery, working hours, pay, and safety. Assure based on key performance metrics based on evidence and analysis of published disclosures, mandated data submittals, certifications, audits, etc."
So, in their next year's impact report they will translate how well they are treating their workforce (in terms of labor-related human rights) into something measureable and show us statistics relating to this. They will also be able to show how this changes year on year. So, in this way, they will be able to use the statistics (calculations) to assure us (put our minds at ease) that they are treating their workforce well.

Note from asker:
Thank you for your answer! "Assurance" sounded a strange word to me in this context and it tricked me, but now it's much clearer. |

: I found the reference - it's on page 12 of your PDF - and I'm still not sure. It seems odd for a big company like HP to use the term without explaining it properly. But I think this must be the meaning, though it's for suppliers, not employees.

Thanks Phil - yes pages 12 and 22, and you're right, it is suppliers not employees.
