Hi all,
There have been warnings of similar scams on other forums before, but I thought I'd post this warning here, as it seems to be specifically targeting Arab translators this time.
I got this email today from an Emirati "prince":
"I am an english speaking prince from United Arab Emirate,Dubai.I will be coming over on holidays to Exeter,United Kingdom,England sometime from 22nd/25th February 2005 for a 10 days vacation with my German wife,my Daughter and my 10... See more Hi all,

I got this email today from an Emirati "prince":

We will require the services of a translator from dutch - English language for 5 hours daily X 10 days during our vist/vacation.Please acknowledge if you can offer this service and give me a price quote.We will like to pay in advance of our visit so we can be assured of an escort during our shopping and sightseeing visit.Please,note an reply will be appreciated.

Note that his wife is German, but he requires translation services in "DUTCH"!
Anyway, I suggest you just ignore it.

That same scam hit several language services firms here in California during the last two weeks.
I speculate that none of those companies got duped and gulled after they asked that initially-vague requestor for additional details beyond the inclusive dates of 4-14 February.

... scammers are always active, in different ways (starting from identity theft), and they use Proz directories a lot.
