Many of you have probably heard about the three upcoming conferences in Canada (Montreal), France (Aix-en-Provence) and Germany (Dortmund) this autumn.

Conferences are a great opportunity to learn, network and socialise and what's exciting about the upcoming conferences is that as regional conferences, they are bilingual events with sessions held in French (Canada and France) and German (Germany) as well as in English.

Dear All

Many of you have probably heard about the three upcoming conferences in Canada (Montreal), France (Aix-en-Provence) and Germany (Dortmund) this autumn.

Conferences are a great opportunity to learn, network and socialise and what's exciting about the upcoming conferences is that as regional conferences, they are bilingual events with sessions held in French (Canada and France) and German (Germany) as well as in English.

The individual conference programmes are shaping up nicely as well but are still a work in progress. However, we've already got some really interesting talks and workshops lined up, not to forget the full-day training sessions that are run either the day before or after the conference. Here are some examples:

Montreal:
- Opening address by Henry Dotterer, founder of ProZ.com
- Sessions on the focus subject "Translating for the film industry"
- Sessions on the focus subject "Medical translation"
- Translating marketing texts
- Integration of freelance translators into the translation process: Agency's point of view

Aix-en-Provence:

Dortmund:
- Keynote speech by Klaus Ahrend, Head of Unit, European Commission, Directorate-General for Translation, Unit S.02 - External translation
- Sessions on the focus subject "The EU as a client for translators and interpreters"
- Sessions on the focus subject " Freelancing in Germany - taxation and legal issues"
- Technical sessions, such as CAT tool on Metatexis and OmegaT, presentations on SDL Trados and across, PDF2Word workshop and Computer Tools for Translators
- Risk Management
