Spanish term

a poco que....aconsejan

Spanish to English Marketing Marketing / Market Research
Truly awful marketing bumph jointly promoting an upmarket motor vehicle and hotel. The last sentence has really thrown me - particularly 'a poco que' and 'aconsejan'.

XXX = car model

Many thanks,

Lisa

Discussion

Our XXXX will take care of the rest, just as soon as it's driven with the care and relaxation that such a special weekend demands.

Just my suggestion!

as long as....deserves

Our XXX will take care of the rest, as long as we drive it with the care and relaxation that such a special weekend deserves.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Marcelo González : La frase "as long as" se puede traducir como "siempre y cuando". In an adverstising campaign, it might be a little strange to use something like, "as long as you do xxx"...; it sounds like a warning (and may not be very good "advertising speak").

...as it...befitting of such a special weekend

...as it moves you along with the care and comfort befitting of such a special weekend

Admittedly, I'm not familiar with that use of "a poco que"; that said, this may be an option.

Since the subjuntive is used (perhaps incorrectly, judging from the writing in general), I also thought of "just as soon as," but don't think it fits very well. IMHO

Si es como sugiere Alex, algo como "con tal de", lo que me parece muy posible, por cierto, quizás "with a view to driving you along/down the road with the care and..."

IN RESPONSE TO ALEX (and his suggestion of "as we drive..."):
Since the subject of the sentence is the car itself, I wouldn't be very inclined to add another subject (such as "we") in the middle of the sentence, especially since the sentence in question already has problems (with its cohesion and coherence). This is why I suggest something like "as it...," which would keep the subject the same, i.e., the car (while enhancing the cohesion of the text).

neutral Alex Lago : También podría ponerse simplemente "as we drive it along with the care..."

Our XXX will take care of the rest, if it's driven carefully and as relaxed as such a special weekend suggests.

This is just an option to consider.
