Flemish(-style) slate roof
According to Robb's dicccionario para ingenieros, "empizarrar" means to "roof with slate", so perhaps (big perhaps -got any pictures?-) this means they are covered with/supporting a slate roof.
Elsevier's dictionary of architecture gives "slating" for empizarrado and confirms that a "cubierta empizarrada" is a slated roof.

Al impulso de Felipe II se deben las cubiertas de pizarra, así como los emplomados, para cuyas obras se hicieron venir oficiales flamencos y plomeros ingleses. Fue uno de los primeros edificios de España con cubierta de pizarra.

Situado en las afueras de la capital, El Pardo es Sitio Real desde 1405, cuando Enrique el Doliente edificó un palacio que, a lo largo de los siglos, fue derribado y reedificado en varias ocasiones. En 1772, fue reformado por última vez. Tiene planta rectangular alargada, torres en los ángulos, empizarrados a la flamenca, y tres patios, uno de ellos rodeado por un foso. Muy cerca, se encuentran la Casa del Príncipe y la Quinta, dependencias restauradas recientemente. Hoy, el palacio se visita como museo, donde se exhiben pinturas y una valiosa colección de tapices.
