Portuguese term

gado manso

Portuguese to English Other Livestock / Animal Husbandry Subtitles

He is talking about branding cattle. Would 'gado manso' be the same as 'domestic cattle'?

Thanks in advance for your help!

domesticated cattle

'Domesticated' is used in Linguée to refer to other animals. I'm not entirely sure that this is the best answer.

In the Portuguese bullfight, which I saw in Lisbon many years ago, at the end of the show they brought out the "gado manso" to lead the bull out of the ring. They were wearing cowbells and gently herded him back "home".

gentle cattle; docile cattle

These were the most common terms during my online research.

Entendo, Tania.

Ex.:

e) Temperamento: Nota absoluta, com escores 1 (animal extremamente
manso), 2, 4 e 5 (animal extremamente bravo).

Boa semana!

Tame cattle

'domesticated' isn't quite the right word as any animal that is ''domesticated ' lives in a house with humans, such as dogs or cats;
'gentle' is a completely inappropriate word to use with cattle, and while some cattle may be docile, this a word mainly applied to the general temperament of animals both wild and domestic, hence 'tame' would be more usual to my ears, as it implies animals which have become more homogeneous to humans over the course of their evolution:

I believe, that there ARE animals that are nearly impossible to tame, and if you get those type tamed that they will never be trustworthy.
