@ Paul Based on this: http://www.nist.gov/oles/afis_interoperability.cfm,, but I could be wrong, this "new" system is still a work in progress [Since the introduction of AFIS in the 1980s and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) in the late 1990s ....], so what are they calling the "new" system now? AFIS still, the "new AFIS", (IAFIS) or other, or you don't know? Regards.

AFIS U.S. government. I'd forgotten, but, you're right; it used to be called AFIS. So, maybe, translation's the same—(¿?)—without going into why entities change their names.
