Luffing mechanisms have also been applied to the driver's cab being mounted on its own jib, following the movement of the crane's main jib These are used for tasks such as ship unloading , where the view from the driver's cab is greatly improved by cantilevering it forwards and over the ship.

Discussion
See <http://encyclopedia2.thefreedictionary.com/Luffer> which says it is a variation of "louvre" (An assembly of sloping, overlapping blades or slats; may be fixed or adjustable...). You will see the resemblance to airport baggage conveyers into which it has been transferred.
"Luffer" itself would do, depending on context, but I guess you want to give the client some clarification.
