Non-PRO Chinese to English Other Other Dislodging a fishbone stuck in the throat
This is from a novel that takes place in 1920s Shanghai, so perhaps this is language from that era. A character is telling about eating some fish and getting a fishbone stuck in her throat:

后来吃夜饭的时候,我吃鲞鱼,一根鱼骨梗在喉咙里,吃饭团咧、打嗯心咧,总咽不下去。

Jennifer, what would striking the heart mean here? What would the person actually be doing?
