English term
you make a note that you've sent it

Woman: Yes, that's right. Portugal is on the other side of the ocean. But anyway I'm going to send this parcel by registered mail.
Man: Registered mail, good idea! What's that?
Woman: Well, to register something means you make a note that you've sent it.
Man: Oh, how do you do that?
Woman: Well, to show that they received your parcel, the post office gives you a registration receipt like this. And you write your name on the receipt and the destination that's where you're sending the parcel and the date, and then the post office will write a number on your parcel and the same number on the receipt.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

you yourself don't have to make any notes since you have a receipt with the details (though you could record sendingthe parcel in a journal/diary if you wanted to)

no, not exactly. She is not explaining registered mail very well at all. "to register something means you make a note that you've sent it". This is not true.
As I said already, the sender does not have to make a note at all since the receipt is their reminder that the letter/parcel is handed over to the PO to be sent with the date. So it's the PO that is actually making a note of the transaction
