Course / fee breakdown
In a table with a student's Fiche d'inscription from Belgium showing the courses / classes attended and fees.
Queried term in asterisks *
Financ. Désignation Classe [Class name]
Niveau DI [droit d’inscription - Enrolment / registration fee]/Exempt.
*Dol.* U [Unité - Unit] Initiation a l'anglais Informatique UF1 (just an example of a course name)
“Dol.” comes under the “Niveau” heading, which comes under the “Finance.” heading
Sometimes under the “Dol” heading there is the “SS” abbreviation and sometimes “SI”
Any idea what “Dol” stands for?

A DOL is an activity or product through which a student demonstrates that he/she has learned the Lesson Objective (LO).

And there is a possibility the acronyms SS and Sl to have to do with the special education https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https:/...

But there's also something else that changes things a little bit. There's another definition:A DOL is an activity or product through which a student demonstrates that he/she has learned the Lesson Objective (LO). The DOL is tied directly to the LO and the Guaranteed curriculum. Teachers make DOLs visible in order to show students how their Demonstration of Learning looks like. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https:/...

Note from asker:
Thanks for your efforts with the , but as PG says, 2 letters are lower case, so I think it must be a contraction of a longer word like dollar, dolmen, etc (these are obviously not relevant here). I like the "Demonstration of Learning" suggestion, but it is abbreviated in caps in the internet sources and I feel this is a contraction of a French word. |

: But why would they use an English acronym? And it's Dol, not DOL.

C'est une très bonne question, en effet... Est-ce peut-être parce que la langue Anglaise s'est globalement et liguistiquement posée comme la langue prépondérante? J'en suis pas certaine aussi.

Thanks!
I am also thinking along these lines, but am also unsure of how best to translate it.
As this is under the heading for the Financing of the course, perhaps "Subsidized" would make sense or else more general term "Funded"? (i.e. there is funding from public funds and is not just privately financed by the student)

I or a colleague tried this once, and it worked.
Also, under the 'Dol.' heading, is there anything other than 'SS' or 'SI'?
(The reason I ask is that if this is an OCR then it may be that SS and SI are eg S2 and S1 i.e semestre 2 & semestre 1, and Dol may be something else too.)
