Non-PRO (1): Daryo

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

AllegroTrans Oct 21, 2022:
Thanks... but we still need more context. Some background concerning the case and the other contents of this table might help. Otherwise, you are only likely to receive guesses. Does RCP appear anywhere else in the document? Has it been defined in a preamble or key?
Frank van 't Hoog (asker) Oct 20, 2022:
Tableau de calculs dans une assignation Thanks everyone for your constructive and friendly responses. My apologies for the lack of context, unfortunately it is impossible to copy and paste a table. I should have added 'euro' after 10.000, 12.000 and 11.500 and that it is part of an 'assignation'. I hope that helps. Looking forward to your responses.
AllegroTrans Oct 20, 2022:
As one of our experienced colleagues used to say:
No context, no cookie
Daryo Oct 20, 2022:
If a question is approached by Asker in a NON-PRO manner then it should treated the same way.

Guessing without any context is not for professional translators.

This rule wasn't invented out of thin air, on the contrary:

2.9 Guidelines:
"Help" KudoZ should be used for requesting terms help after having searched the KudoZ term search and other resources. When asking a question, sufficient context should be provided. Even when there is no other context, the subject area and type of document should be indicated. It can be helpful to enter sentences or paragraphs where the term in question occurs. See a more detailed description here:

AllegroTrans Oct 19, 2022:
Context needed please What is the contract about? Are these figures currency? something else? The more context you can give, the better
Marco Solinas Oct 19, 2022:
To asker I had thought of "Return on Equity" (for "Rentabilité des Capitaux Propres"), but that would be expressed as a percentage; so, I don't think that is it.
Samuël Buysschaert Oct 19, 2022:
I agree, more context would be appreciated.

One more for RCP:
Rentabilité des Capitaux Propres?

Rentabilité des fonds propres? (return on equity) See record 6 here: https://www.btb.termiumplus.gc.ca/tpv2alpha/alpha-eng.html?l...
FPC Oct 19, 2022:
Without more context it's difficult. RCP Finance for instance is a brand name, but in French RCP can mean a host of things from réanimation cardio-pulmonaire to reclusione criminelle à perpétuité, to responsabilité civile professionnelle, etc...
writeaway Oct 19, 2022:
Is this posting a mistake? Since you posted the same term here: https://www.proz.com/kudoz/french-to-dutch/law-general/70953...
Jennifer Levey Oct 19, 2022:
@Asker What is the subject-matter of the contract?

"The PERSONNEL EXPENSE RATIO is a business indicator that puts the personnel expenses reported in the income statement in relation to the total output of a company. The following formula is used to calculate it: Personnel expense ratio = Personnel expense / Total output."

Without some idea of the context, however, almost anything is possible.

Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : No point in wildly guessing. We need proper context // You make this sound like a lottery game instead of a professional forum!

All part of the fun ;-)
neutral Daryo : in your example it's used as criteria for allocating total costs by cost centres - we have no idea even what the whole document is about, let alone any details = pointless guessing.

Totally agree. But if Askers won't play the game our way, I'll play it theirs. No amount of asking ever changes much.

That's the first thing that pops into my head. Definitely needs some context.

The disincentive arises because, although eligibility and entitlement are now defined in terms of total hours worked, the level of benefits paid depends on the total insured earnings in the twenty-six week rate calculation period (RCP), divided by the

Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : Given the figures are sums of money (asker tells us Euros) this doesn't make sense
