Discussion

Christopher Schröder Mar 6, 2023:
Looks there like an informal name for storage tanks from which they can draw smaller amounts as needed.
Frankie Hearsum (asker) Mar 6, 2023:
I also found it somewhere else online - "Modellen för macktankar då simuleringen körts igenom med historiska data för produktionsvolymer"
Frankie Hearsum (asker) Mar 5, 2023:
Thank you both for your suggestions - Khalil Jichi's suggestion of it being a misspelling makes sense although the word is repeated so many times in the text and it is always spelt "macktank", and also appears as just "mack", and there are no other spelling mistakes to indicate a badly scanned pdf or something so I'm not sure!
Christopher Schröder Mar 3, 2023:
Could it be as simple as filling station tanks?

Swedish term (edited): macktank = marktank (possible misspelling?)
Selected

underground storage tank

Possible misspelling of the term "macktank" or "macktankar"?

I can be wrong but it may be rather correct spelled as "marktank" or in plural form "marktankar".

The translation of the phrase if spelled as "marktankar would be as followed:

"hantering av marktankar för HF Agarose basmatris" =
"handling of underground storage tanks for the use of HF Agarose gel matrix"
or
"treatment of underground storage tanks for the use of HF Agarose gel matrix"

Down is a link of a Swedish website with a attached PDF-file where this term "marktankar" is mentioned.

Thank you for clarifying this!
Now that you mention the term “mack” appears as a single word in the context then that changes the course. Here follows an explanation in swedish from the “Svenska Akademien Ordlista” which is the “Swedish Academic Glossary”:
“ belagt sedan ca 1920; initialord bildat till Mathiasson, Andersson, Collin, Key, namn på tillverkare av de första bensinpumparna med automatisk mätapparat”. In short the term “mack” stands for “gas station”.
The translation for “macktankar” would be translated: “gas station underground tanks”.
