Danish term

tracé

Danish to English Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping
banetracé

I have seen several terms used in English for this word but non fit in all contexts. Sometimes layout, sometimes route, sometimes track is used. Does anyone know if there's one standard term for the 'Danish' term tracé?

alignment

sporets tracé > track alignment, as a linguistic shift from the orig. FRE = routing (pronounced rooting vs. rowting = dispelling the enemy), rather than route.

Example sentence:

da korridor COM luftledningstracé højspændingstracé areal COM en bedding land transport TRANSPORT building and public works [INDUSTRY] forlægning COM tracé COM *linjeføring* alignnment

The direction and position given to the centre line of the railway track on the ground is called the track alignment.

Peer comment(s):

agree Diarmuid Kennan : I have accummulated a few railway glossaries over the years: 'alignment' is suggested in 3 of them, and one also suggests 'layout of the line'
