Catalan term
penques
Catalan to English
Art/Literary
Music
This is talking about about the character of the Duke of Mantua in Verdi's opera Rigoletto.
TIA! :)
Lots of examples, all in the same section:
Also lots of references, just not very helpful.

ACT ONE begins in the palace of the Duke of Mantua. He's a self-obsessed cad, notorious for his indiscreet love life.

Now, hating Pinkerton certainly isn’t uncommon, but Smith takes it to a bit of an extreme. Twice he calls him “the biggest cad in opera”: does he really consider him an even bigger cad than the Duke in Rigoletto… an even bigger cad than Don Giovanni?
