The translation is part of a handweaver's pattern book (as far as I know, a bible for the weavers, but quite old). In a page explaining the parts of a weaving draft it refers to the gamps. This is the exact quote from the original:
Gamps: Some samples are featured acroos two pages as blocks of three adjacent but different threading drafts within one piece. Three different weaving drafts are woven across the whole piece, resulting in a "gamp" (sample combination) of nine different woven patterns. |
