Vertikalni stabilizator je vertikalna struktura obično smještena za stražnjem dijelu aviona ili drugih zrakoplova. Služi za održavanje pravca leta te promjenu smjera, a također osigurava stabilnost zrakoplova u horizontalnoj ravnini. Upotrebljava se također na raketama, bombama i automobilima. Stražnji dio stabilizatora, kormilo pravca, je pomičan i upotrebljava se za upravljanje po smjeru (oko vertikalne osi).

My experience with the "vertikalni stabilizator" term goes as far back as my childhood, since my father was a reserve officer in the Air force.
