6.3 POSITIONING
There shall be 2 separate DGPS systems with dual frequency receivers, and with 2 separate solutions for RTCM corrections. The DGPS systems shall have full redundancy including antennas, demodulator and RTCM source. Both systems shall at all times be interfaced to the navigation system. If the primary system fails or it exceeds the set quality limits, the system shall automatically switch ranking.

Gran parte degli errori che influiscono sulla misurazione della posizione dei satelliti è completamente eliminabile, o può almeno essere significativamente ridotta, utilizzando le tecniche di misurazione differenziale.
Il concetto base di questa tecnica è l'impiego di dati registrati contemporaneamente di almeno due ricevitori. La correzione differenziale (DGPS) consente all'utente civile di migliorare l'accuratezza della posizione da 15-20 m a 2-3 m o meno, ampliando quindi l'utilità dell'impiego del GPS a molte applicazioni civili.
